Serving the Richmond, Virginia area
Literacy, mindset, and movement program for ages 2-7
Did you know that 90% of brain growth happens before kindergarten?
Science shows us that our early years offer us the best opportunities for absorbing new skills like reading, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. The Sprout House was designed with this critical developmental time in mind. Our camps and programs help prepare little ones for the big world around them—in a way that’s just plain fun!
Hi, I’m Miss Caroline.
I love connecting in a carefree, silly way while instilling a love for expression, reading, and independence. While outwardly I focus on early literacy, yoga, and mindfulness, inwardly The Sprout House was created to set participants up for whole-life success.
A bit about me:
I’m a proud Richmond native and an experienced multisensory literacy educator with a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia.
Over the past 10 years, I’ve been fortunate to work locally and abroad as an early childhood and elementary school teacher, as well as a reading interventionist and private tutor for grades K - 5.
I’m also Certified in leading, evidence-based curriculums including:
Children’s yoga through YogaEd
The Orton-Gillingham method for reading intervention
Mindfulness, social emotional learning, and yoga for educators through Breathe for Change
200 hrs of yoga teacher training through Breathe for Change
The Kindness Curriculum through The University of Wisconsin
Having an opportunity to blend my education, professional experiences, and my passion for building up little ones’ confidence led me to create The Sprout House. It is such a joy to support children, parents, and caregivers within the Richmond community in this way.
I can’t wait to have the best of times with your little sprout soon!
A safe space for building confidence and making mistakes.
Our intention is to build a community where our little sprouts (and their grownups) feel welcomed, loved, and at home.

All camps and sessions are small groups led by Masters-level, experienced professional educator, Caroline Simmons (aka Miss Caroline!). Her curriculum is rooted in research and coupled with a sincere love for empowering little ones to enjoy learning big new skills. More than play-based learning and mindful movement, our sessions were designed for confidence building!
